Crime: Reaching Towards Resolution - A film screening and discussion
21st May 2009 7.00 - 9.00pm, The Studio Theatre, Island Art Centre, The Island, Lisburn.
We are trying to do something about crime. The Northern Ireland based Educational Shakespeare Company is putting a lot of effort into finding ways to prevent people who have committed serious offences from re-offending. We have developed an important and effective technique - it involves getting offenders to make short films which highlight issues around criminality. We believe these films can help to make an important contribution to the debate on crime.
ESC is planning a public screening in your area of a series of films made by offenders. There will be a discussion after the screening which will be led by an individual from your community who made one of the films. The screening will be open to the public and we will be making a special effort to invite people who have been affected by the issues raised - family and friends of the offender, victims, people who work in the criminal justice system, business people (especially those with businesses affected by crime), community activists, and politicians.
If you believe in fighting crime and as a local business or as an individual would like to contribute to this initiative in the community, here is your chance.
The first screening is taking place in Lisburn. Please join us.
